Consul General was pleased to welcome a team from Shastri Indo Canadian Institute (SICI) at the Consulate. The team was led by Prof. Meenal Shrivastava, Secretary/Treasurer and joined by Mr. Sabu Alexander, Finance and Public Relation Officer.
They briefed CG about the activities of SICI. They also briefed CG on the funding patterns of SICI and informed him about the 8-week internship of students from Alberta undergoing in India currently. SICI operates from the campus of the University of Calgary.

Consul General Masakui Rungsung was welcomed by the Office Bearers of The Chetan Association of Canada and members of Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha at an event organized on August 6 at Simon Fraser University (SFU) library. Consul General paid floral tribute to the bust of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar installed at the Library.
In his remarks, Consul General expressed his gratitude to the organizers and shared his perspective on how Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar worked towards the common goal of emancipation and nation-building. A small cultural programme was also organized on the occasion.

During the meeting Councillor Sav Dhaliwal, Councillor James Wang, Councillor Maita Santiago and Chief Administrative Officer of City of Burnaby Leon Gous were also present. The discussion was focused on enhancing people to people and economic engagement as well as opportunities in clean tech, IT & education sectors between Burnaby and India.

India’s seafood exports grow by 30.81% from 2019-20 to 2023-24: MoS Commerce
India’s seafood exports have increased from Rs 46,662.85 Crore in 2019-20 to Rs 61043.68 Crore in 2023-24 registering a growth of 30.81%, said Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada in a reply in Rajya Sabha. As per the data shared by the MoS, in 2023-24, 182.70 lakh tonne marine products were produced out of which, 18.19 lakh tonnes were exported. UPI transactions witness 45% yearly growth, says NCPI
Payments through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) reported a 45 per cent yearly growth, according to data from the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). The value of transactions also saw a growth of over 35 per cent, totalling Rs 20.64 trillion. This marks the third consecutive month when total transactions exceeded Rs 20 trillion. From 91,287 km to 146,126 km: National Highways network grows by over 60% in a decade
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in a statement informed that it has substantially increased its capital expenditure over the past five years, underscoring the government’s dedication to enhancing the national highways network and infrastructure. This boost in spending, combined with timely maintenance, has expanded the National Highways (NH) network from approximately 91,287 km in March 2014 to around 1,46,126 km as of July 25, 2024.
